Our Secondary 1 G1 JYians visited the National Museum of Singapore to explore Singapore’s precolonial and colonial past through artefacts and stories. Guided by museum docents, students learnt about the experiences of different communities, how they adapted to challenges and how they contributed to Singapore’s development. The experience brought Social Studies beyond the classroom and helped students better understand the people and events that shaped Singapore.

Our Secondary 1 G1 JYians explored the Singapore Botanic Gardens to learn more about Singapore’s natural environment. Through close observation of plants, wildlife and ecological systems, students discovered the importance of biodiversity and healthy ecosystems. The experience encouraged them to appreciate Singapore’s natural heritage and understand the role everyone can play in protecting our environment.

Our Secondary 2 G1 JYians visited the Harmony in Diversity Gallery to explore Singapore’s multicultural society and the importance of racial and religious harmony. Through interactive exhibits and multimedia displays, students learnt about significant events in Singapore’s history and how communities have worked to strengthen mutual understanding. They also explored how shared spaces encourage interaction among different groups, helping them appreciate the importance of building and sustaining a cohesive society.

At the HDB Living Space Gallery and Toa Payoh Central, our Secondary 2 G1 JYians explored how Singapore’s public housing has evolved over the decades. Students learnt how housing policies, urban planning and sustainability efforts contribute to liveable and inclusive communities. A guided walk around Toa Payoh gave them the opportunity to observe the neighbourhood firsthand and consider how its facilities and shared spaces meet the needs of residents.

Our Secondary 3 G1 JYians took on the role of working adults as they navigated real life financial decisions involving income, spending and savings. Through the Financial Literacy Trail, students experienced the challenges of managing limited resources and considered the consequences of their choices. The experience connected Social Studies concepts to everyday life and helped students develop practical financial literacy skills for the future.

Our Secondary 3 JYians visited the Singapore City Gallery at the Urban Redevelopment Authority to explore how Singapore is planned and developed. Through interactive exhibits, students discovered how urban planners balance competing needs and make decisions about Singapore’s limited land. The experience strengthened their understanding of governance and how thoughtful planning contributes to the wellbeing of society.

Our Secondary 1 G2 and G3 JYians stepped beyond the classroom to investigate Singapore’s past in Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam. By exploring these historic districts, students encountered the sights, spaces and stories of Singapore’s early immigrant communities. The experience helped them connect what they learnt in class with the places where Singapore’s history unfolded.

How did Singapore grow into the city we know today? Our Secondary 2 JYians explored this question at the Singapore Discovery Centre. Through immersive exhibitions and a film on the racial riots of the 1960s, students learnt about the challenges Singapore faced in its early years and how its people and leaders responded. The experience deepened their appreciation of social harmony and how decisions made in the past continue to shape Singapore today.

Our Secondary 1 G2 and G3 JYians investigated water sustainability at Jurong Lake Gardens. Students tested water quality, made field sketches and mapped features along a nature trail. By gathering and interpreting information firsthand, they deepened their understanding of Singapore’s water resources and discovered how individual actions can contribute to water sustainability.

Our Secondary 2 JYians visited the HDB Living Space Gallery at Toa Payoh HDB Hub to investigate how Singapore plans and manages its limited land. Through interactive exhibits and guided walks, students explored integrated land use, sustainable housing and features that make public housing more inclusive. The experience helped them understand how thoughtful planning can improve residents’ quality of life.

Our Secondary 3 JYians explored Tengah to see how sustainability is being put into practice in one of Singapore’s newest housing estates. Students observed how environmental, social and economic considerations are integrated into the planning of the town. They also learnt how community efforts help residents build connections and develop a stronger sense of place and belonging.

Our Secondary 3 EBS JYians visited Universal Studios Singapore to experience hospitality and tourism concepts in a real industry setting. Students observed guest relations, customer service, marketing strategies and theme park operations firsthand. These observations provided practical insights into the marketing mix and helped prepare students for their Secondary 4 coursework.

Our Secondary 3 POA JYians put their financial knowledge to the test through the CPF Board’s The Case of the Vanishing Fortune workshop. Taking on the role of detectives, students investigated how financial decisions affect spending, savings and overall financial wellbeing. Through this engaging experience, they developed practical skills in budgeting, managing debt and tracking cash flow while strengthening their understanding of concepts learnt in POA.
