Through adoption of blended learning to design effective and engaging learning experience, we empower students to not just speak, read, and write proficiently but to also appreciate the beauty of their mother tongue.

Our educators are passionate about their subjects and are committed to igniting that passion in our students. 3) Authentic Learning through PASSION:
Our Mother Tongue Department goes beyond conventional learning methods. We anchor our approach on PASSION - learning experiences. Two of our flagship programs, the Mother Tongue Fortnight Programme and Overseas Exchange Programme, embody this philosophy.
- Mother Tongue Fortnight Programme: This immersive experience allows students to delve deep into their mother tongue by participating in cultural activities, language games, and workshops which are designed and conducted by teachers based on students’ interests. It creates an environment where students can connect with their roots and discover the beauty of their language and culture in a practical and authentic manner.

Our Programmes Internationalisation Programme
From 1–4 June 2025, 26 JYians travelled to Bandung, Indonesia, for an enriching overseas learning experience under our Internationalisation Programme. Students took part in a vibrant exchange at Taruna Bakti Junior High School, explored key landmarks such as Gedung Sate and the Geology Museum and experienced modern transport on the Whoosh! high-speed train.
Cultural immersion came alive through angklung performances at Saung Angklung Udjo and a hands-on visit to Wisata Ilmu Sutera to learn about sustainable silk farming. Students also observed how social enterprises impact communities during their stop at Paskal Food Market.
The trip nurtured global competencies, cultural appreciation and confident student leaders. As we commemorate SG60, this journey reminds us that our JYians are ready to connect, contribute and thrive in a globalised world.
