After School Programme
At Juying Secondary School, we recognise that students grow in different ways and through different experiences. As part of our After-School Engagement efforts, we offer a range of small-group developmental programmes that provide participating students with opportunities to discover their strengths, build meaningful relationships and experience success beyond the classroom:
APPLE
Discovering Strengths, Building Confidence
APPLE is an 18-session programme that supports students in building confidence, resilience and positive relationships through outdoor adventures, team challenges and authentic learning experiences. In partnership with Boys’ Town Adventure Centre, students step beyond their comfort zones while developing communication, teamwork, self-discipline and perseverance. Through these shared experiences, students discover their strengths, experience success and grow into more confident and motivated individuals.
Nature Nurture
Connecting with Self, Others and Nature
Nature Nurture provides Secondary 1 and 2 students with opportunities to grow through weekly nature-based experiences. With the support of volunteers from Shell and NParks, students explore the natural environment while developing greater awareness of their emotions, learning strategies for self-regulation and strengthening their interactions with others. The programme creates a different space for students to connect with nature, caring adults and one another.
JoYful Bakers
Building Confidence, One Bake at a Time
JoYful Bakers uses the shared experience of baking to develop students’ confidence, self-worth and ability to work with others. Guided by bakers from Edith Patisserie, students learn practical skills while communicating, cooperating and taking responsibility as a team. By baking for others, students also experience the joy of contributing to their community and seeing how their efforts can make a positive difference.
Art Therapy
Creating, Expressing and Growing
Art Therapy provides students with a supportive space to explore and express their emotions through art and craft. Working alongside volunteers from Crest Youth, students engage in creative activities that encourage self-expression and reflection while developing greater emotional awareness and strategies for self-regulation. The small-group setting also provides opportunities to build positive relationships and grow in confidence.
